only things i would like to change would be softening up the dampers a little more in normal mode . Where i am here in Canada the roads are brutal . Interior could have a little more plush materials but that would increase cost . I would of like to have a BSD system and rear park sensors like i had on my 14 VT . The blind spot on the Veloster on the passenger side is brutal .

Only had the car three days, up to now I just like everything. Still keeping below 4000 rpm for the first 600 miles. Looking forward to getting to 600 miles so I can push the car a little further, the road holding and the smoothness of the engine is really good. The front seats are very supportive, being older this is a real plus.
My son is really impressed with it and in the past he has modified car to get good performance.
I can live with the cheaper plastic inside trim, mainly because I had ready a few test reports and they all seem to mention it. Have Hyundai changed the inside trim since the 2019 models (mine is a 2020) because it is not as bad as some of the test reports said. Unless test drivers are used to driving expensive cars.
Only thing I would have liked to have would be a CD player, only because I have plenty of CD's. But I will just have to add them to another way to listen to them while I am driving. But that is pretty minor in the overall impressive car.

I've had my VN PP since November and this is how I feel about the car:

Pros: This is an enthusiast car. With the great handling, brakes, stiff frame, suspension options, and ability to customize car set up. I also like how the car is as simple as it can and not stuffed with unnecessary (or performance hurting, also unnecessary added weight) technology. The technology that was put in car works great for getting the best performance a stock street at an affordable price can get. This car was built to go and I'm pleased with the results.

Con: The infotainment system doesn't work well together. it's either Android auto and Bluetooth not both together. I mostly use Bluetooth unless I need navigation. This is just an inconvenience I can live with though. I

Brake dust, brake dust, brake dust!!! That's the only thing I hate about this car. Absolutely love everything else!

Best regards,

-Mike

I don't like the lack of safety features, like lane assist, adaptive cruise control, and all that. For me (and it may just be me) there's a pretty big blind spot on both sides of the car (because of the small back windows). It would be nice to have those features as a just-in-case.

Overall, I like the car as a whole. I love the styling probably the most. The torque and gobs of power are nice as well. The best thing of all is I got 30MPG today on the highway... It's like two cars in one.

Just bought a 2021 Ultra Black VN DCT. So far I am loving it.

The things that I love so far:
1. The little burbles and gurgles when in N mode. (Still in break in period so I have not been able to get the loud pops yet)
2. Remote start: used to have to go out in the freezing weather and manually start my 15 VT and pray no one stole the vehicle when I was getting ready as Hyundai did not let you lock the doors when the car was running for some reason. Now with blue link I can safely and easily start the car using Alexa and it will pre-heat or Pre-cool the car for you.
3. All of the driver assist features like auto headlights, auto high beams, lane keep assist, RCCW, FCAA, etc. (some caveats listed below)

4. I have heard a lot of negative things about DCT but so far it drives just like my 15 VT automatic, in fact it’s even a little better. Maybe the wet 8 speed drives differently than Hyundai’s old 7 speed? Not sure, this is the first DCT I’ve ever driven.

The only things I found personally that are a little annoying are as follows:

1. They got rid of the built in bubble mirror on the drivers side in favor of BSM. This is not a big deal, however I like seeing with my own eyes what is in my blind spot and I don’t like relying on technology.

2. The Lane Keep Assist and Lane Keep Follow should be bundled into one feature and controlled by the one button on the steering wheel to make it easy to turn off/on on the fly. The feature is nice but I live near CLE, OH and the roads are always trash so most drivers tend to drive partly in the turning lane or close to it and there is a lot of construction that forces you into some half-lane situations so I am constantly fighting the assist features so I do not crash or hit cones. Also, with the lane keep follow on, it occurred twice where I was entering a 5 lane intersection in the left hand lane, and the lane keep follow feature tried steering me into the oncoming traffic-side turning lane. It must have thought the double yellow line was the line that was supposed to be on the right as it only saw 1? Not entirely sure. These are new features to me as I came from a 15 VT with no safety features. It’s looks like I will have both of these settings turned off for city driving and use it only for the highway.

3.I like using the Waze navigation app over apples map app. When using apple car play no matter what settings I changed, the navigation voice is not loud enough to hear at all. The front speakers dim/stop playing music and you can sorta hear the voice saying something but that is all. I made sure the in-app voice guidance was turned all the way up and I went into the VN settings and turned the voice guidance from the default of 15 up to like 35 and nothing changed. There might be a fix, I will just have to search some posts on the internet.

4. As I mentioned above, I live near Cleveland in the snow belt. The VN is my daily driver. I already have to buy new tires for the winter as the Veloster comes with the pirelli pzero summer tires. IMO it would have made more since to ship it with at least all seasons or something. Now I am stuck debating getting cheap winter tires for the OEM wheel ($700-$800) or buying 18” wheels with winter tires to make the ride smoother/more enjoyable in the winter ($1300-$1500). It just sucks that I pulled it right off the lot and already need new things for it.

My wife of years is from Parma originally. Buy new tires and wheels, it's worth your expense being there and stay out of the chuck/pot holes.

I believe there is an automatic volume control in the drivers menu, try unchecking it and see if that doesn't work. Also, turn off the equalized in your phone. I know with the IOS devices, this will make a world of difference. I utilize an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Typical Hyundai or Kia. We have both. The features have always been separate on both. Don't see them changin it in the near future either. The LKA camera will always search for traffic lines. If there is a break in the line for an exit or just not there it will wander looking for the nearest line.

The LKA will go into a standby mode in traffic so you there's no necessity to turn it off if you don't want to. It's the nature of the system. The other system warnings are a little annoying at first but quick gotten use to.

Wait till someone crosses your path to closely from another lane and the FAC kicks in. It will definately wake you up. They also have a system for that as well. Enjoy the car.

Just some friendly advice; get the car fully Ziebarted and add paint protection film (PPF). With the chemicals and salt they put on the road up there it's worth every penny to keep the car in decent shape.

Thanks for the info. I figured out the Waze issue it was in the apple car play device settings on the VN sound setting section. So that is working now. And I am actually in the Parma area lol I am taking it to Finishline to see what they will quote me to do the PPF. I am having them do the window tinting which was quoted at $300.

get the PPF ASAP. you can thank me later. I paid 750$ for the whole front bumper, 1/3 of the hood, fenders and mirrors

You're welcome.

So many things I love about this car. My only minor complaint is I wish the DCT had the same steering wheel as the upcoming Elantra and Kona N's. That NGS is kind of hidden and to be honest I completely forgot about it. Granted I've only had the car a few weeks, but I saw in another thread someone mentioned the NGS and I couldn't believe I still haven't tried that feature. Just wish it was a little more prominent like this:

My only minor dislike is the gate for second gear, only really noticeable when down shifting. This gripe wouldn't be comparable to most other manuals, but if you've ever experienced a Miata trans and shifting you probably know what I mean.

I love pretty much everything so far. The mode switching is probably my favorite thing. Once it's warm I go to N mode and stay that way until I get back to my neighborhood. I like the DCT's shifts, I have no frame of reference for other dual clutch designs though as this is my first. The way it handles through turns is very confidence inspiring.

Negatives: Brake dust. The attention it gets from some folks, no, I don't want to race you.

There's just something about the VN that fits me extremely well. It's been a long time since I've owned a car that when I get in it feels like it was just meant to be.

I got my 2019 base model used in Sept with 18k mi. I've put about 10k more on her since then. In that time: 3 oils changes, trans oil change, filters replaced, added mud flaps, hood struts, and rear motor mount, with a few more parts on the way! 😁

The Pros:
-Fun Factor; more smiles per galloN; handling and exhaust; manual trans; N-Mode; This is the most fun vehicle I have driven. Canyon back roads are my daily drive 5 days a week! The con to this is getting stuck behind a much slower driver... 😑
-The Looks; Everytime I see her parked in the front lot at work, I have to stop and appreciate her stance
-The lack of "extras"; I love not having blind spot warnings or lane keeping or auto braking, or electronic adjustable seats. The lack of those features is a plus for me, means less electronics that can go bad later.
-The Community; In general, car communities are great (with some poor outliers than gain all the attention) and the ones that operate like a family are awesome. The love we share for our N's brings us together. I've only been able to see one other VN in my area, and the dude saw me and chased me down popping to meet me lol The enthusiasm was strong!
-Unlockable on Forza; This is at the bottom cus it isn't a big deal, but I think it is still pretty fricken cool that I have a car that I can unlock, customize, and race around the Nordschleife on a video game. Although, you can say the same about many other cars out there...

The Cons:
-The brake dust; Wow, these wheels get dirty so fast! I washed her yesterday and already there's a layer of dust on all four.
-Detailing the front and rear bumper; The grille and the faux air ducts on front and rear bumper are a pain to clean and keep clean. I got a leaf blower and some detailing brushes that help, but man, it is a literal pain trying to stand back up afterwards lol
-The gloss black around the bottom and rear wing; Also a pain to keep clean. After having a black car years ago, I will never get another.

Overall, still extremely satisfied and grateful for this incredible piece of machinery
