I truly don't like the third door and just wish it a two door. That is it. The rest for the money is spot on and in many areas exceeds my expectations.
That's part of the quirkiness I love about the car. Too each their own.

If the car is locked when running, you won't. Try pushing the little black button twice on the drivers door. Might be an anti-highjack feature. I know you can set the doors to lock only when the N is actually moving, not when putting in gear. To do so is in the users menu between the gauges.
Thanks. I hadn't noticed that. Ironically, though you can't unlock the door (it relocks immediatley) you can simply pull the handle and open the door even at speed. I find that hilarious.

I love how it sticks on the corners but that first gear come so quick that sometimes I lose momentum when I go from stop to moving on a corner. The rev limiter should have a bit more headroom like at 7,500 rpm or something

Can't believe it took me this long to find (rough few months- better now) I'd been on veloster.org or something w/painfully little N discussions there..So likes pretty much everything! Thought I needed heated seats but its mostly a summer car and w/cloth its not a big deal really. The one problem I have that I somehow missed on test drives- dash glare..holy freakin dash glare! Polarized glasses are a must regardless of sun presence..and even then some still comes through. 1st service and recall visit today- a bit early (I thought @4900 miles) until service guy said well your actually about 1200 late due to 'severe' conditions in our area- to which I said bs- almost no short trips/traffic, mostly highway or open back roads- 9mo car so no real snow/salt so what humidity? Why the **** don't they use synth like almost everyone else?? I plan on doing every 5k and not really that happy about that frequency as I do ~400/week. So anyway he said Hyundai could deny a claim if I don't stick to 3750 per severe conditions...any thoughts? Thanks!

My dealer told me it DID use synthetic (and that most new cars use synthetic; not sure how true that is, but if we use less petroleum as a result, I'm good with it).

Interesting note: On "myhyundai.com" the owner's manual associated with my N is actually the "regular" Veloster manual. So no real help there. Digging out the real book, on 8-7 of the owner's manual it says:

SAE 0W-30 / API Latest(ILSAC Latest) or ACEA-C2
Not entirely sure what that means myself. I plan on only using synthetic regardless; is 0W-30 even available as a non-synthetic?

Thanks Paul- so yeah it is full synthetic as it turns out (service advisor also found that out today as I was the lucky 1st and I believe the only N sale to their credit- so that's good- and bad I guess.) He was however still pretty adamant about the 3750 thing(mainly as a just in case situation which I get but..) with full synth this seems even more absurd. Its not the $ but more the inconvenience factor for me- I'd like to know what the N drivers at large are doing on that front and that oil thread doesn't hit on that much that I saw. But anyway yeah loving the car- utilize almost every drive mode often other than eco and I'm still wowed at how hard I can push this lil wrong wheel driver..rwd would make this thing off the charts awesome but for 25,9 (w/o perf- had my reasons there-price/availability but also bad roads w/less tire and no spare) I think its an amazing little hatch.

Sounds like your dealership has had warranty denied in the past due to the perceived severe service issue?! You could ask them? Otherwise, why pick your car out for possible warranty issue?

I'm just going to follow the manual as best I can. Probably more around the mileage than the time, though, although it's my daily driver, my commute's fairly short (7 miles) so I don't spin the odometer much in that 5-month period. :p My Evo had the same thing, even programmed into the computer -- "6 months or 5k miles". I wouldn't get close to 5k in 6mo so it would start complaining. Then when I did change it, and reset the computer, it wouldn't give me the right combination of "months or miles" (it would set the next closest interval). Got to the point where I just ignored the 'maintainance needed' stuff and checked the odometer to the oil change sticker I had. :p

Never had an eng tech tell me the oil looked degraded, though (I took it to a local Japanese-specialty shop for stuff like that, they were good thorough guys).

Oh there is 1 more mild dislike..front fascia is too low for most auto car washes to where if I had PP and was another quarter inch or whatever it is lower- I'd have been turned around again yesterday- (place over the weekend said turn around mr exotic okay I made 2nd part up) but it skimmed and I mean just skimmed by as I sat in agony- so that's a bit of a thing.

I love so much about this car...powertrain, pop pops, N mode customization, styling, PB color, practicality, great infotainment system, warranty

Stuff I don't like so much: no cooling seats, wish steering wheel was flat bottom, shifter feels a bit sloppy, clutch engagement is a bit vague, pretty cheap materials on armrest and side door panels, couple of annoying issues like occasional hard starts and something loose in/on my rear wing, REALLY bad MPG if you max out N mode

Overall can't complain and don't regret it one bit!

Right now, I've got about 1100 miles on the car. I'm getting used to the car. Because I'm 61 years old, it's a little bit of a hassle to get out of the car since the seats are so low...little bit of a hassle, but not bad. My 14 Mustang GT was a real hassle. Other than that, I really can't complain about anything so far.
I really like the seating position while I'm actually driving the car, it's really good. I like the way the car drives, because it is so tight, precise, and everything feels purposeful. I also enjoy the Dr. Jeckel/Mr. Hyde personality. You can drive it like a Corolla, (Dr. Jeckel), and everything is good. When you nail the throttle, Mr. Hyde wakes up, and he gets mean.

New owner here...'20 Chalk White w PP. I'l be 60 next year so guess I'm not the oldest. Coming from ST platform, both Fiesta and Focus...every time I get in it is awesome, hopefully that doesn't wear off. Mods coming where I can find them...would love to mess w the ECU but Hyundai has that thing locked down. My d-ship, Rick Case here in Atlanta, doubled the powertrain wtty to 200k so now sure I want to mess w it.

Looking to this site to help w the mods...mostly cosmetic because the car is pretty much perfect. Bantered about thinking about a Type R, and they are nice, but the N fits the bill for me.

I have 500 miles on mine so far, only 100 to go until I can rip it 😈 I absolutely love this car and I haven’t even opened her up yet. The only gripe I have is the reverse lockout placement on the shifter. It seems that no matter which way I grab the shift knob, the lockout is somehow in the way. It prevents me from confidently throwing it from one gear to the next because I can’t get a full grip on it. Anyone else notice this?

2020 Black PP here. I Looove the handling. Not my favorite seats. Seems to have a crease right where my back wants support.
PITA getting in and out of it. The long coupe door on the driver side really restricts the opening in parking lots.

I really wish there was a second Custom Mode.

I like driving in Normal on the highway except for the steering. I prefer Sport.
I don't like fiddling with the custom mode while driving, but to get that I have to shut off the exhaust and then turn down the engine setting.
Then turn them back to loud and pop pop later. Not terrible, but annoying.
Normal steering has the car feeling all over the place on the highway.

There is an N custom mode that allows you to create a complete custom setting. It keeps the settings saved. When you switch to N mode, press the button again to get to N custom.

Would be nice to have a button on the wheel or by the shifter that allowed you to cycle through one of the N custom settings (specified by you).

I can pretty much get by with most settings in one position but for some reason I keep wanting to turn the als off when not needed.

Or as mentioned above a 2nd N Custom would be great.

That’s a great idea! I find myself in N mode most of the time and only change the suspension stiffness depending on what road I am on. I really don’t touch any of the other settings.

I have my car dialed in for exactly where it needs to be for my cities driving conditions in the custom settings now. What I want a second Custom setting for is so I can have the same set up but different exhaust volumes... specifically for when passing school zones/construction/police checkpoints.
