Tennessee Tuners

Hello, I have a 2019 veloster N non PP. I'm in middle Tennessee, and I'm looking for someone or anywhere near me that could tune my car. I'd prefer a Dyno tune, but so far nowhere I've called has the equipment to tune a Veloster N. Can anyone point me in the right direction? If I can't get a dyno tune what would be the next best option? I've researched about SXTH element tunes, JB4, and LAP3 but I hear both good and bad things about each of them. I'm new to tuning so any advice would be appreciated.

I'm not looking to push my N too hard, as I daily it 100 miles for work. Stage 1 is what I'm thinking of starting with unless stage 2 with the proper supporting mods would be mechanically reliable. I understand even stock with aggressive driving would be less reliable than stage 2 with "calmer" driving.

My current mods are:
Takeda CAI + inlet
Big mouth snorkel
Saiku Michi catch can

Planned mods before tune:
Shark racing Catted downpipe
HPFP
Heat range 9 spark plugs from N75
FMIC

Lastly, I've heard that stage 2 can be risky with the stock turbo. I'm interested in upgrading to an EN turbo, but I want to know if the larger turbo will put more stress on the internals of the engine.

Thanks for any input and I'm happy to be here 🙂

I'm also in middle TN. I would recommend the SXTH route, give them a list of your mods and either send in the ECU or buy one of their devices (EK1PRO or similar) to flash it yourself.

I couldn't find any reputable tuners in the area but someone else may chime in. I ended up towing the car up to Illinois to have P&L Motorsports do the tuning and other work, but may not make sense for most people. Tough to find a trustworthy shop with reviews and all behind it.

How was your experience with P&L? I'm in Illinois and it would be awesome to have a local shop that I could rely on for jobs I don't want to tackle myself. Did they seem interested in doing more Hyundai work? I don't see it listed on their website.

I have a SXTH high torque tune (now called stage 2) on a spare ECU. My car is FBO, everything except for meth and an upgraded turbo. I have been running this set up for about four years now. I pretty much only use the car for track days and a yearly trip to the tail of the dragon, so I don't put a ton of miles on it (at like 31,000 now), but it has been dependable for me.
Prior to this tune I ran the JB4 on maps 1, 2, and 3 (3 with E30) for a few months. I believe the JB4 is a fairly safe option as well, as long as you don't beat on it excessivly. I always found myself bouncing off the rev limiter with the JB4 because all the added power seemed to come on at a higher RPM. It was also less consistent with the power delivery. The ECU tune feels like the car did from the factory, just with more HP/TQ.

FBO for the stage 2 would be: Downpipe, intercooler, intake (elbow), fuel pump, heat range 9 spark plugs and catch can. Oil cooler is really only needed for tracking. When I say my car is FBO, I mean I have pretty much every HP mod available except for meth and the EN turbo, like the intercooler pipes, coils, aluminum pulley, midpipe and oil cooler.
