Oh there is also Hawk pads now
I seen that and wondering if anyone has tried them out yet. Also, looking up the part number Hawk has, found out these are actually Veloster Turbo pads. Like 2012-2020 Veloster Turbo pads. Looking at size specs for both Turbo and N pads, they are very similar. Like it might actually fit these cars.

So, with the unresponsiveness of G-LOC and their vendor, I went ahead and ordered some Porterfield R-4 pads for the Veloster Turbo to see if these'll fit. Road America event is in a few weeks and I would like something a bit better than the Yellowstuff I still have on the car. If they don't fit, I'll just run the Yellowstuff, grind down both rotors and pads and just get some cheapo Rockauto pads to get me through (I do have brand new rotors on hand so no worries there). Much like G-LOC and many other brake pad company, they are made to order. But unlike G-LOC, I actually got an email back from Porterfield within a day, stating they are made to order and the lead time is 7-10 days. Should have them the week of track day.

Although for those that still have their stock pads (pretty sure I threw mine away), try contacting Porterfield to get the N on their website. Right on their ad, it says "We can make pads for any vehicle or caliper ". I have a feeling they need an OEM set of pads but it'll add to the list of pads available for this car.

Did you talk to Porterfield sales? I've contacted them before and they already have the measurements for the VN brakes. They just don't list them on their website.

Fronts AP2211 R-4 $269.95
Rears AP2212 R-4 $199.95

I ended up getting Pagid RSL2 pads from Genracer instead. They go on the car next week.

No, didn't really call any of the brake pad companies. Although I'm starting to see a pattern here with them (them as in G-LOC, Porterfield, Carbotech, etc). I've never bought a set of dedicated track pads before so the process of having to call them to order is new to me. It would be nice to also get an email back too, which G-LOC finally did get back to me same day I made the prior post. It would also help if they would update their website to list the N. Actually, G-LOC's website wasn't working for the past few weeks until just a few days ago...

But just received my G-LOC pads yesterday so it's all good now. And seeing the backplate, I can see how they can make a brake pad to fit just about any car out there. Didn't know these companies made their own backplate... Anyways, I'm leaving a link to where I ordered my G-LOC pads from. Took about 7 days before the pads were marked as shipped.

Last question. That website you linked shows Veloster N 2019+ but 2019-2020 had two brake sizes. I'm assuming the PP is assumed.
I wouldn't be too worried since I it's been confirmed a while ago that both base and PP brake pads are interchangeable with each other. As long as the backplate is sized as OEM, fits on the car and the pad material can take the heat, that's all that really matters.

I have the R8 as it was recommended to me to have a pad that can withstand about 1200F degrees. Think the max temp of these are 1350F. They also oversized the pad material on the backplate so it really doesn't matter if it's for a base or PP.

Has anyone thought of what would be the most appropriate pad replacement for just the rear? I keep reading about the infamous rear pads sticking to the rotors when left a while in wet/rain. It's technically an issue with both rotor and pad. Rotors like to rust up on their surface and pads are high metal for performance.

Given it is "just the rear" one would think maybe a EBC Red-Stuff pad with stock rotors would be an excellent replacement giving very similar braking for everything but the track.

What other pad would be a suitable stock replacement to keep similar performance and avoid the rusting problem?

I have these and couldn't be happier. There IS brake dust on the break in process but then it subsides. These pads are ceramic and do NOT stick the the rear rotor. If you just use this car as a daily then these pads are awesome. The bite is just as good or just a bit better than the stock pads. Hope this helps?

Best regards,

-Mike

I’ve been happy with mine as well. I have experienced slight friction delay when driving highway in the rain, but nothing like the stock pads. Used to have a car that would periodically / automatically pulse the brakes to prevent this... wish I had that now.

OK I have both the Porterfield R-4 Veloster Turbo pads and G-LOC R8 N pads with me and yeah, Turbo pads definitely won't fit our cars. Hawk should REALLY not be listing Turbo pads fitting our cars because they won't. I don't know why they listed Turbo pads fitting N cars in the first place but it's now 100% confirmed that it is completely wrong. So currently, Hawk still doesn't make a pad for the N.

Porterfield R-4, review after a couple of months of street driving and 3 track days. Pro's on the track, much more initial bite, very good modulation under heavy and trail breaking, no hint of over heating. At least in the summer months, on the street, no issue of lack of braking torque from cold pads/rotors. Con's, noisy while on the track, no big deal, a lot of squeaking on the street and dusty. Did I say dusty, very dusty but easy to wash off.
A couple of close friends who are instructors at various OTD hosting venues have driven my car for shits and giggles testing it's limits were very impressed with the braking upgrade.
