Interesting! I'm waiting to see what Injen comes out with, but this is something that I haven't seen yet!
Injen won't have anything like this. This is a Ram Air Snorkel not a CAI. It's used in addition to the OEM airbox or a CAI. I've already spoke to them directly. Injen is a cheap alternative without a heat shield. With IAT's from heat soak, a heat shield will be required without doubt.

It stands for Intake Air Temperatures. The hotter they are the more timing is pulled by the ECU. Makes our cars slower... This is why an enclosed filtered designed box with an inlet from the grill area is the way to go. It gives us the lowest intake air temperatures which gives us the best timing. Hope this helps.

I'd love one but I just don't feel like removing the whole bumper and grill. Had to do that for the Ford Fusion. Not sure if the VN is the same. I wish they gave us some install pics on their website so we knew for sure. I think a black main body with a red lip would look awesome though! :)

I didn't mean Injen making a ram air snorkel, just waiting to see what Injen's CAI looks like. From what we have seen, it will be closed box and hopefully have a heat shield. We will have to wait and see, I do like the black body with red lip look on the snorkel. This would definitely help with lower IATs

Same here. Had to remove the entire front bumper on my Focus ST to get mine on.

Taking off the bumper is always a requirement. Piece of piss, takes all of 10 minutes. The install pics will come from several sources. It's a pretty straight forward installation. Go to You Tube and look for an, Elantra GT install of the Velossa Tech Snorkel. You get an idea!

While it's moving, absolutely! :wink: Nothing helps when it's setting still except............................................intake heat resistant insulation, coil pack insulators, turbo cover, etc.:smile:

Injens CAI will be either a filter and alloy tube or a plastic box type (Evolution Series). So far, they've never done an Evolution Series for even the Veloster Turbo or R-Spec or past years. It's always been IS or SP Series which it the prior of the two I listed. Would not like either as it will be affected by heat far to easily. Neither will be thick enough to act as an heat reflector or insulator. Neither will be able to deal with heat soak the 2.0T Theta II.

Now, SXTH Element will have a closed box with snorkel to box fairly soon. This is a photo of the 1.6T Gamma II unit but the 2.0T Theta will look just like it with the same options. This will be a big plus, with the Velossa Tech Snorkel in place as well.

That SXTH Element set up looks pretty bad ass! How much do those cost for the 1.6 Gamma II?

Looks like the best option I've seen so far and you get the added bonus of the red snorkel in the grill.
According to SXTH Element;

https://www.sxthelement.com/CPLT-Intake-p/09-01-104.htm

Check out the options available on the dropdown lists. If you have any questions just ask.

This CPLT is for the 1.6T Gamma engine Veloster Turbo,& R-Spec. The VN 2.0T Theta II Engine CPLT will be the same. Yes, it will cost you a bit more but you will also have a more than acceptable compromise between hp and engine protection. the will protect the engine while add horsepower. Optimally, I believe it will be the best, if no one else comes out with something [email protected] lower cost.

The CPLT for the VN will be available in the next month or so, according to SXTH Element.:grin: I'm holding off on any of the others I listed in the other thread, for this one.:grin:

With the Velossa Tech Snorkel, there are many color combinations available.:wink:

Use the drop down lists on colors combinations and you'll see what I mean.

I like the design but not the silicone tube. The AFE/Takeda intake is my favorite so far.

Here's a quick blurb from AFE Takata. So there are others in the works, as we comment. Not sure about their quality but it will be available.

Hi,
We are currently testing one out on a local Veloster N. If everything checks out then we expect to have one in a couple of months.

Will look somewhat like this;

The hood sits on top of it as the cover when it's shut.

Yep, I spoke to AFE Takata about this a few month ago. It's still in the works but I have seen much more about it. I emailed them and they say it coming fairly soon. problems is they are looking at numbers of sales. The VN is not available in that big of number right now. I understand the business end of it and their working capital bottomline as well.

All interesting, guess we are stuck waiting around until the water kinda settles and we see what is actually available to us.
Yep you just got to be patient. Everything takes a bit of time to transpire. From experience, definately email them and show your interest. The more you do this and follow up, they will respond quicker.

I ordered my Velossa Big Mouth intake yesterday. Black main body with red flare. This car is starting to come along now.... Bumper romoval looks pretty easy for this car. Much better than my Ford Fusion was.

I believe there is video out on YouTube posted a couple days ago for the install. It made it look really simple and I will be using it as a guide for when I do mine (comes in today! Hoping to install this weekend.)

I also purchased the black with red flare! I'd be interested to see if I feel any difference on the butt dyno with it leading into the Forge Intake that I have installed on mine. Maybe not too much because of it being a turbo'd vehicle unless it can actually lower intake temps by venting off the engine bay with more outside air, but my wallet is lighter so it should be a noticeable change in weight reduction!

This should lower intake temps by a few degrees. Take some pics bud, we'd all like to see them. Thanks for any info.
