So this was never an issue until just recently I started to notice a tick at idle it’s most apparent with N mode on and the ac off but I don’t wanna waste a trip to the dealership with the nearest one being an hour a away, currently have 10,200 miles on it.

Try to record it. This car makes so many damn noises it would have to be very different to be a problem. My car has a ticking somwhwere in the engine bay as well but i believe its normal. I dont exactly know what it is though

Mine has the ticking also. seems worse in n mode. I had the ticking on my old veloster turbo and they told me it was the high pressure fuel pump. Idk if that's right or not but when you take the engine cover off of mine the ticking is way louder

It is the high pressure fuel pump. Try some upper cylinder lubricant like Lucas to quiet it down. See, gas is like a dry whiskey it doesn't have much lubricating properties in it so the fuel pump gets noisy. Hope this helped you?

Also, it could be the injectors too or a combo of both. In the old port injected engines the pulses from the injectors made a ticking noise. I am not sure if it is the same for the GDI engines? Just something else to think about that will not hurt performance.

Yea now that you say that I remember the service manager saying that the injectors could tick sometimes also. And said it usually would quite down a bit after it warmed and it seems it does to me anyway.

I’ll definitely record it tomorrow, it’s just so weird to me how it randomly started, it’s so bad one of my friends asked me what it was that was making that noise. It’s not too worrisome to me though due to it not consistently being there and it’s only really able to be heard with the windows down.

Oh yea mines not that bad. Occasionally I'll get a louder faster ticking for a few seconds right after I start up that sounds weird to me. But it's only been a couple times a noticed

It almost sounds like an exhaust leak. Does it go away as it warms up? Did you have any exhaust or intake work done to the car? Thanks for the video. :)
