Right side blind spot detector malfunctioning - where is emitter?

So my right side blind spot detector in my mirror is on about 50% of the time. Even when I'm lane removed from the edge of the road and no cars in sight.

Really annoying when I go to change lanes and the thing yells at me. Anyway, where is the emitter for this? And is the receiver the same? I wonder if it just needs cleaned?

I imagine it's very similar to the Kia Soul GT-Line w/drivers assists.

Blind spot is sensors are located on the right and left of the rear bumper facia. It's not out of adjustment, just the sensitivity is to high. Check the drivers menu by utilizing the list button on the steering . cycle thru main menu looking for Lane Keeping Assist (LKA). Select and a sub menu will appear with sensitivity setting. I'll bet it's set on high. You can lower it as necessary.

See if this doesn't solve the issue.

I just took delivery of a 2021 model and my driver side mirror BSM always comes on when moving. The dealer mentioned it's been reported by others and they think noise from the winter tire may be triggering it. I've only driven the car with winters on so not sure. Apparently it's being looked into, but I'll check that sensitivity setting as well.

I'm not a big fan of the safety nannies either. Feels like sensory overload. With the Stinger, I had the HUD and mirror warnings vying for my attention. Combined with shoulder checking anyway, I found myself checking too many places in some weird sort of validation that what I saw matched what the car saw. It actually felt more dangerous to change lanes. Maybe it's just me, haha. But I do like the 2021 seats and DCT.

This is soo close to my setup. Got 19x8.5 wheels +45 offset with 3mm spacers (+42 effective offset) and stock 235/35 tires. I get false positives in rear passenger all the time. Its too bad as well since my car sat at the dealer for a decent amount of time to get the blind-spot stuff even working and now I just leave it disabled as its an annoyance.

I just put Continental ExtremeContact DWS06+ on my stock rims, and I am getting the false positives all the time, mostly on my passenger side. I took it through a touchless car wash hoping that it was a dirty sensor, but that didn't do anything. I will get in touch with the dealership and update when I have any further info.

The dealer just called me about my car. They attempted to recalibrate the radar on the back passenger side but it is not responding the way it should. He said they kept getting the false positives no matter what they adjusted. They want to replace the radar so they have ordered new sensors (which they described as two boxes behind the rear facia on the bumper) but there are currently NONE in the US. Being that so many others are having this issue (even those with the '22 models), replacing the sensor is likely not going to fix it anyway in my opinion. It sounds like a software or calibration issue to me. With the global supply chain being the way it is, we are screwed for quite some time.

Thanks for the update. Yea I agree with you this is not a sensor problem since people reported after putting on stock tires back on makes the problem go away. Working sensors are being thrown out and replaced because dealerships want to throw parts at it (Parts fire canon). I'm still puzzled how tires can effect the BSD system. Anyways keep me/us updated if there is a solution. This is a safety issue Hyundai can't ignore as we can be tricked thinking it's a false alarm and end up hitting a car.

To add: I have also noticed that the tires have been overinflated by a bit it should be, 35 PSI cold rear but the new tires are at 37-38 PSI cold and hit 39 after traveling short distance. Could be the cause which I plan to take care today.

Another small update- When I picked up my car last night they told me it would be a week to get the new radar delivered. That surprised me and I hope they don't let me down.

Also, when they gave me the key fob for my car I walked out to the parking lot and found it parked next to a beautiful Evo X MR. I got in my car and I noticed was my dash cam was unplugged. Why do you suppose they would unplug the dashcam? Hopefully it's not because they were joyriding my car up the highway against the other fast car in the parking lot and didn't want any evidence. I looked at the dashcam footage up to the point where they unplugged it and there was nothing out of the ordinary on day one. They unplugged it when they were pulling out of the dealership on day two. I cannot prove anything but I find that questionable. Anyone else with a dash cam run into this before?

Thanks for that update.

As far as unplugging dashcams I been there not with this car but in my WRX. My turbo failed and needed to be replaced. It took them a several weeks and when I finally got in my car I saw the dashcam was unplugged and not only that but the 3/4 of a tank of gas was now less then a 1/4 of a tank. It also had 30-40 miles driven from the time I gave them the car. So I have no doubt they were using my car to go places or joyriding.

Dealerships, most not all, like to unplug people's dash cam because they think it's invading their privacy and I guess many people use the footage to claim work was not done or complain the work was not done properly and maybe they don't want that drama.

Anyways all to say I now have a backup to my dashcam. I installed automatic voice recorders when sound is detected and hid them in very difficult places to find and I am also thinking of a gps tracker. I set the speed alert in my VN to notify me if car goes above 55 via bluelink. Cause if they are joyriding we all know the car can go above 55 pretty quickly. Sorry for the long reply, hope they fix the whole BSD issue. I'm checking my email once a day hoping for a solution.

Dealerships have no privacy in a public setting. They have no right to unplug or remove any item from the car. It‘s in their care and custody on your behalf. This doesn’t give them any special privilege with your belongings or anything other than the specific work being carried out on the vehicle.

Simply tell the intake associate your dash camera is active for your protection and do not disconnect the unit. Also have them note it on the service contract where the technician can see it.

They're liable for any damage or vandalism which occurs to the vehicle in the care and custody. This is why they have insurance coverage.

Additionally, you don’t need a GPS Tracker. BlueLink has the capacity to alert you when the car is being driven and location. 👍🇺🇸

Maybe I don't know how to use Bluelink very well as I'm new to this car and it's features, but it seem very limited as far as tracking. Yes it will notify me if driven but with the issue of BSD they need to drive it on the road to test it before and after they make repairs or adjustments. What I want to know is are they abusing the car while driving or driving it professionally. I don't think correct me if I'm wrong Bluelink has that sort of data, while a gps tracker will let me know speed and distance traveled. While of course my audio recorder will capture anything else like screeching of tire or flooring the gas pedal etc..All of this will help me prove the car was abused in their care if they decide to unplug my dashcam.

But I do agree with you that they have no right to unplug our dashcams. I also have a written warning in view that the car is being audio and video recorded.
