Just filled up my car for the 3rd time and my gas door doesn’t stay open. It never has. The door closes itself when I hang the gas cap on it. Is this how everyone else’s gas door is?

Yeah it's a dumb design but that's how it's supposed to be. I just let the cap hang and it makes it easier.

There's a definite detent on mine in the fully open position, takes some effort to start to close it again. When you open it is it basically perpendicular to the car?

What he said... you have to fully open it and it will "click" open and stay that way (if it's working right).

Yes sir, I can confirm the dent and perpendicular to the car. You'll need to have it replaced by the dealer. Cap hanger in the door works pretty well actually, at least for me.

You can purchase one of these and replace it but you're going to have to take it in and let them replace the door and spring dent assembly

Thanks gentlemen. I wasn’t pulling it open far enough. It finally sticks once you get it perpendicular. I definitely had to open it further than I would naturally to feel the “grab”.
