There is no shortage of hot hatches to choose from these days and the upcoming Veloster N will be going up against some steep competitors. Though since official specs have been released, we know that the Veloster N will be more powerful than both the GTI (242hp) and Focus ST (252hp). Owners are going to have to look to aftermarket mods if they hope to rival that of the Golf R or Focus RS.

This is great timing for Hyundai as the Golf and GTI have recently seen some detunes and Ford will no longer be offering new models of the Focus in NA. Should also include the Civic Type R as a key rival, though we don't know how exactly they will compare in price.

The Performance Package will play a vital roll in rivaling just about everything in this segment. I just hope Hyundai doesn't stop their but offer more packages, some limited but higher performing.

I cant believe that VW is still having such serious issues with meeting emissions, but its really to Hyundai's benefit. Skepticism around VW may very well mean that consumers are in the market for an alternative hot hatch.

It might just mean a stronger push to go electric and hybrid while the latter is a viable option. Even if they have to borrow it from an existing car maker, it'll put VW in the green once again.

The Volkswagen ID lineup is one of the most impressive looking imo, and thanks to all their issues with the EPA, we might be seeing some models sooner than expected. They need to move away from their market specific models as well.
