noticed that my 2020 VN won't indicate what gear it is in. Started about two days ago. Runs an shifts fine but will not display the gear number the vehicle is in. Looked for settings I might have changed but can't find anything, any thoughts?

It's an ugly fix, but maybe try unhooking the battery overnight? (Assuming you're in a garage or similar.)

Can't verify that this will fix it, but at least it shouldn't hurt it any. I installed a gear indicator on my Yamaha R1 in the past and it required some programming so you might have to take it in for service to reset it.

Let us know.

Took the vehicle into the dealership for service, where it remains at this time awaiting repair. The service department and the mechanic both tried to say that it was working the way it was supposed to. Meaning that the car does not display what gear it is in. I actually had to show the service person a YouTube video clearly showing the car displaying it's current gear. He finally had the mechanic take a second look at the problem. I was told that the car now needs a crankshaft position sensor and it should fix the issue. Waiting on parts, then repair. Will see I guess.

Half an hour at most to reset the ECU to OEM parameters. If it doesn’t, then it’s off to the dealership to up,pad the original software with the GDS.
