Former Genesis Coupe 3.8 owner here. I got my Chalk White N less than a week ago. I'm looking forward to getting out of the break-in period to start having some real fun.

Previous cars include the 2010 Gen Coupe 3.8 GT and prior to that was a 1999 Ford Contour SVT. Um... I'm in the Stone Mountain area of Atlanta. I'm a computer nerd. I turn my own wrench.

What else you wanna know?

Welcome. Car looks fantastic.

Curious how the SVT was to own and drive? Always liked the look of those, and the SVT seemed like it would be pretty fun. I remember the original Taurus SHO with the Yamaha head and thought that car was really nice (less the interiors of those generations). Loved the look of the intakes on that engine!

North Atlanta owner, and yes, previous owner of a 98.5 SVT contour...

The contour was a bada** experience to drive. A smallish V6, 2.5L, but made such smooth power. It was rumored that the engine was purchased from porche, but don't know for sure. But, that car was my first introduction to rev hang, and I fought long and hard with the dealer till they made it go away. Also, left me stranded several times with the crank position sensor failing.

The CSVT (mine was a '99) was a blast to drive. Sure it was a little low on power, but the handling and balance were spot on: understeer was predictable but was easily corrected by a decent rear sway-bar upgrade. The engine, as Taste mention, was an DOHC V6 that was designed by Porsche and bought by Ford for their Cosworth program (Mondeo ST220). I got mine in 2001 with 28k miles on the clock. The only atypical maintenance I had to perform was O2 sensor replacement (the easy one - at the cat, and the PITA -- exhaust manifold). Other than that, it was a gem to own. I was fortunate enough not to have to deal with the dash warping issue. I do remember the clutch in that car being MASSIVE. After a couple of years of ownership in Atlanta traffic, I bet I could've squatted 200 pounds just using my left leg. ;)

Taste: You didn't learn about the trick with the pipe cap with the drilled hole insert to fix the rev-hang? ;) That's what I love about (good) car forums; some smart folks get together to think through an issue and come up with a cheap solution.

I only learned about the drilled hole insert later after the dealer fixed the issue. But when I was going to sell the car, that DIY had me looking at other CSVT's!

Nice, Im just up the road from you in Chattanooga. I too am a former SVT owner, just the Focus variety. 2002 Pitch Black with blue seats and Audiophile option.
I have family in and around Chattanooga, so you may see me around occasionally. ;)

I'm a new VN owner from the south side of Atlanta. Is there a group that meets for drives or get togethers? I've got my break in miles done and ready to go!
None that I'm aware of ...yet. ;)
