Good new for anyone hoping Hyundai tailored the infotainment system to be completely unique. If you don't know already we get a G Force meter, turbo boost, performance focused graphics, suspension setting and some other key performance information you want on demand.

Great to see that Hyundai will be giving drivers plenty of access to performance information at their fingertips. I do think this infotainment screen could be better incorporated into the dash, but hot hatches have never really provided the best displays.

I want to agree but they simply can't do that with the Genesis brand on the rise and the Veloster having always been an entry-level product.

However, if we get a "genesis version" of the Veloster N, high end design language that features in-dash infotainment is a must.

This is pretty identical to what you'd get in the Civic Type R, which has been criticized for the same reason. Though I would argue that positioning it over top of the vents does make it seem like an afterthought.

They could have incorporated the display better into the dash for sure, but they have limited space to work with. At least they are providing plenty of physical buttons to operate the system with, because it would be very distracting to try and control everything via a touch screen.

Well we saw that the CTR was criticized for not having a volume knob and they've had to add one for the new model. The infotainment systems in hot hatches have always been a bit sub par, because that's not really a focus for owners.

Does anyone know if android auto/ apple carplay compatibility has been confirmed? I know Hyundai has said that the VN comes with latest generation of their technology suite and I have heard mention of app integration. Is it standard equipment?

I prefer using my phone for Navignition. The maps are always up to date and I get traffic info.
I have a Google Pixel 2xl and so far the interface with the VN has been flawless.
The navigation in my Genesis Coupe did not have traffic and was horrendously expensive to update.

It's much better than having to do software upgrades every time a new on comes out from MnSoft. We had to do this with both the Kona and the Genesis at least 2 or 3 times each year. They don't always work either. Several Kona owners bricked their head units with corrupted SD Cards. No subscription to mess with either. Push the BlueLink app or button and just add a location.

Blessings and Peace

I always roll around with the digital speedo in the center since the analog speedo is hard to nail down exactly where you're at with a quick glance. I appreciate how quick it is to flip through the option screens though! Make sure to customize the settings to your liking for number of turn signal blinks, welcome sound on/off, modes that display shift light, etc

I haven't noticed a digital speedo - how do you select it?. The choices I have seen are the Turbo screen, tire pressure screen, economy screen, and the customizer screen. The only time I see a digital read when the cruise control is on.

It is within the economy options where the MPG and trip meters are. Scroll down using the right hand up down selector (not the cruise, the inner up-down). Makes it easy to go between MPH and checking your MPGs (I'm doing a lot of that now as I'm curious).

Oh, I wanted to share that buried in the infotainment settings you can change the display notification that comes up when you change driving modes. I hated it how you couldn't change modes without it taking over the display for a few seconds. There is an option to make it show on just the top of the screen (like the climate controls do) or you can turn it off altogether.

Couple of other nice customization items in the advanced settings menus too. Customize the star button (I use it to turn on/off the display for less cabin light at night), and the ability to have the screen show a digital or analog clock. And I have the center button on the mirror take me straight to android auto for if I have the display off or am in media, it takes me quickly back to phone navigation.

Anyways, make it yours. This is all new to me since I've always owned older cars. Sorry if this is old news :)
