Was interesting to see on the "vehicle health report" after taking my car into the dealership that at 8000 miles I have quite a bit more front brake pad left than on the rear. Are the fronts thicker when new or does the esc use those rear brakes a decent amount even in normal daily driving?

Rearward brake bias will cause this to happen. Being Hyundai N-Division wanted to focus on eliminating as torque steer as possible, I imagine they decided to add some rearward brake bias, then having it neutral.
