Yup, I plan on keeping the stock muffler. I actually like the way it sounds. Not "Ricey" at all. I also have a catless down pipe on the way from Russia too. That will also get a Jet-Hot coating but it will be the 2500 degree one. The mid-pipe is only getting the 1300 degree coating. I think that is fine for a mid pipe. This gets shipped on Monday! :)

I've never heard of coating your exhaust pipes. What's the purpose of this?

Let us know what you think. Im still debating what to do to my downpipe. After spending over a grand on my DSM to coat various things, I do not know if there is a benefit or not. So did I really waste 1K? It looked nice but that is all I can say. But I really want to open up my exhaust more, so this with my downpipe collecting dust will really do that.

Will do. Jet-Hot is supposed to be the best of the best but we will see. I just want to do the build right and not cut corners. I figured what could it hurt? I'll keep you all posted on it. Still waiting for my DP.

Mike, does your DP tracking number show it hitting US soil yet? Still waiting on mine too. That mid-pipe looks great. Look forward to your photos after the coating.

Hopefully not Nomad. I guess we will see.

I know it's not a ceramic coating but the stock mid pipe has heat shields directly attached to it. I assume it's to keep the heat in the pipe so this is why I went with a Jet-Hot coating. I think I'll be OK.

Any potential for damaging the valved exhaust with increased temps reaching it?
I would be very surprised if coating exhaust parts will damage any exhaust parts, they are built to withstand a lot of heat. Having said that, a lot of people do this to their headers and downpipes so that the heat generated by these parts (as they are the hottest coming out of the engine) do not heat up the air around them, which is detrimental to sensitive sensors, components, coolant, and possibly even the ambient air to the intake. Some want to do coating and some use wraps, and there are pros and cons to both approaches, and also as to their effectiveness. For example, if you have an oil leak, it will probably not catch on fire if it's on a coated surface, but may catch on fire if it soaks up and into a heat wrap. A good mod if you can afford it, especially for the downpipe.

probably more for you in the cabin and other lines that go under the car, generally not going to be an issue if you are driving normally (w/ the air circulating under the car) or even track driving and properly cooling down, but could be super helpful if you are drag racing or sitting/parking the car after running hot sessions, those heat shields would have come in handy.

Got the piping back and it all on the car. It made it much louder in sport +. It's like a totally different sounds with much more pops and crackles. Eco sounds like normal mode, normal mode sounds like sport, sport sounds like sport +, and sport plus is now sport +++++. lol.... Not much drone and it's not bothersome either. Gotta really be listening for it....

My son just got stopped leaving Walmart by a police officer. The officer told him that it "sounded like he was speeding" due to the loud, factory exhaust and acted like he was going to try to write my son a ticket... For factory exhaust... For "sounding" like he was speeding.

I can't imagine the grief we'd get for turning up the sound.

Some cops have a power trip lol
I got stopped once because he though i flashed my high beams at him but it was just my running lights on a bumpy road. He was trying to argue with me, but i really dont have the patience for stupidity so i just let him cry about it until he eventually let me go lol. I was in a 3 piece suit omw to work with a spotless record, like what the hell is he going to do about me flashing headlights

Very stoked to hear this! Your description is exactly what I wanted, especially with the minimal drone. Hope to get around to installing it soon!!

It's a great piece. If you want the exhaust note lower just use your left thumb. It's really not overly loud but deeper and crisper. I hate too much drone and I'm 50 and this doesn't bother me at all. I think you will enjoy it. I have a write up on my build thread on n-cars. Also, the coolant temp is lower by a few degrees. On the highway it used to run 199 to 201 and now it runs 194 to 197. Every bit helps. I also have the pipe jet hot coated so that may make a difference too?

Best regards,

-Mike
