We don't have the "Active Sound" feature do we? This feature has some kind of engine sounds in the audio stereo.

This YouTube shows the feature accessed via the "Setup" button.

It was interesting, BTW, to see what other switches there were in the Setup button. I'll probably turn off the big "Drive Mode" display at some point.


Anyway, I'm pretty sure that as VN owners we don't have "Active Sound" in our stereos. Tell me if that's wrong. But, after all, we don't need it.

I haven't noticed it. I really hope not, for a 4 banger these cars sound **** good. I imagine they wouldn't have fake noises simply because of the variable exhaust system

There is an electronic sound generator but it doesn't play through the speakers and is not adjustable separately through any menus. I believe it does get quieter in normal or eco modes though.

Not available on the VN. Don't need a fake sound to enhance the VN.

Thanks. So could you tell me more what "an electronic sound generator" is? If it's not in the audio speakers, where's it coming from? And is it working to make the VN even more raucous and noisy with spirited driving?

It's pretty much dead center below your wipers. Im not sure exactly how it works but probably spins at varying speeds and the vibrations radiate sound into the cabin, seemingly from the windshield.

It doesn't add a lot of sound but almost balances the exhaust sound from the rear. Its a matter of taste, occasionally I found that it sounded odd. I unplugged mine and prefer it but some people dont.
